La Pradera, meaning the meadow, is an affordable housing community in Hobbs, NM. The project consists of eight multifamily buildings with a total of 60 units plus a community building, day care and community garden. As the Architect and LEED for Homes measurement and verification team, Equiterra was able to assist the developer in utilizing the LEED certification process to deliver the most sustainable housing project possible. The LEED Platinum certified design increased the total budget by only 6% over conventional non-LEED housing. Energy and water savings will offset these costs in less than ten years.
